It is with great joy that I write this blog post… FINALLY!
Almost two years ago my ‘oh so talented’ boyfriend Marco, spoke to me about a short film project he and a friend had come up with about 10 years ago. He started writing the script but it never panned out. Marco told me he had it on his chest for the longest time. He saw potential in it and always wanted to take it further and actually make it into something. So of course, I did what I knew best and I convinced him to go for it. At the time, I didn’t know what Marco had up his sleeve nor did I know the talent he had in scripting, filming, directing and most importantly, editing!
I’ll never forget the feeling I had, sitting in the metro reading the script! I GOT IT! I got the exact feel, the story, the weirdness of it all! While reading the script, I could have perfectly envisioned exactly where everything took place. It was so genius! But of course, with Marco you cannot tell him, “Wow babe, it’s amazing! Absolutely perfect! When are you going to start filming!?” Oh no no no! With Marco, perfect isn’t perfect enough. Weeks and weeks went by and he re-read every single word, asking if it would sound better this way or that way. While to me, it was all great. At this point, he decided to call on his dear friend Laura Aloi for help with the project. After several long months… the script was “perfect” {for Marco that is}.
Then came time for casting, finding locations, directing and all those fun things. I was twitching a little seeing that it was all going to finally come to life. Now keep in mind, this was all done on a low budget, with just one camera and volunteered cast members. So we had to call on all friends who we thought would capture the exact feeling and look we got when reading the script. Marco even asked his building’s janitor, Bob, to be the homeless guy in the movie. Ummmm what!?!? Yes! Yes, he did and did he ever deliver!
**** There is no way I can not blog about this moment: Marco asked me to do a make-up trial on him, to see if we could turn a young actor into an old homeless man prior to finding Bob.
Make-up, boyfriend… how could I say no to this! ha ha ha! Check out what he looked like… I like to call him, scary, old, creepy homeless man!

I had a lot of involvement with the movie, I was the onset coordinator, an extra, on set photographer and a supporter! But then came the fun part… Private Screening Planning!! Who better could he have asked to plan and organize the screening!
He wanted to have a little ’5 à 7′ kind of night to thank all those who took part in the filming process with a night of food, drinks, treats and of course, to watch the movie they took part in.
Where better to have had this screening then at Parkway Resto Pub. Our dear friend and owner of Parkway, Peter Jr Filato took great care of us and did exactly what we wanted. The location, space and sound was all perfect, but the food.. oh my gosh, THE FOOD! Parkways mini burgers were just out of this world! With no garish needed, the flavors were all in the meat. In case that didn’t get your attention, Homemade Mac n Cheese with loads of Gouda cheese! This is not your typical Resto-Pub, and the food will tell you that! All Fresh, all homemade! Yumm Yumm!

Now, whats a movie premiere without the popcorn machine and candy!? Our popcorn machine from Bravo Rental really set the movie feel.

The show stopper was our Sweet table. We took the feel of movie night mix with the “After the Rain” feel and made it into something great. All movie favorite candies were there such as: Sour belts, M&Ms, Skittles, Jelly Beans, Sour watermelons, Party Mix chips and we cannot forget the mini cupcakes made by my dearest friend Melina over at Millemiettes {melina_tartaglia@hotmail.com}.
Here are some pictures of the outcome of the night.

All in all, the night was perfect and memorable. All guests left wondering with the movie and excited to share it and now, we FINALLY CAN!
So I welcome you all, to please have a look at the amazing work of my boyfriend Marco Luca, Laura Aloi and all of the team that took part in this great short film!
Enjoy!! http://aftertherain.moscamedia.com/watch-the-film/
